The terms, explained
- NBT EVO
- The newer NBT EVO (ID5/ID6) iDrive — modern tile menus and, on many cars, wireless Apple CarPlay.
- CarPlay
- Apple CarPlay — your iPhone's maps, music and messages shown on the car's screen.
- iDrive
- BMW's on-screen menu system, controlled by the rotary knob and buttons between the seats.
- APIX
- The high-speed video link BMW uses between the headunit and the screen (APIX1 or APIX2). The unit and monitor must match.
